In July of 2009, I began my Bourbonista Blog. My first entry went a little something like this:
"I am an Aging Party Girl who has spent the past twenty-something years drinking, flirting, cussing, causing a scene, experimenting with most every drug and fashion trend, and trying to find true love and my life's purpose. I love anything you put in a punchbowl, am often mistaken for a drag queen, and plan on being cremated and put in a disco ball when I die.
My life in verse:
I lived my life like a Barbarian Queen.
I needed to be heard and wanted to be seen.
So I laughed to loud, and I drank too many,
I loved too hard...regrets I haven't any!
Join me as I share, in Technicolor detail, my battle to defy the odds and continue my life as a vibrant voluptuary. Despite my ongoing inebriated state, this Bourbonista has learned a thing or two along the way about sex, marriage, giant squids, shopping, entertaining, being entertained, angry ghosts, publishing, Mary Todd Lincoln, alcoholism, home remedies for rashes, tap dancing, and nearly all other things fabulous."
Since then, I have lost a husband; my cat, Vladimir; a few hundred brain cells; my dream of becoming a bestselling mainstream author, and touch with reality for a brief period. But, I’ve gained a new husband; a 120 pound lab named Rufus; a houseboat on Herrington Lake; twenty pounds; four Sisters Provocateur; and a new determination to make it as an Indie writer. I am thrilled to announce, I have found true love. I am still searching for my life's purpose.
Three times a week I will offer up the raw and raucous details of my eccentric existence, even the ones that ain't so pretty. I hope to gather some insight and a few new friends along the way. So, check in for new entries on Tie-One-On Tuesday, Flashback Friday, and Sunday at the Lake with Donna.
It feels good to be back.
