It's Tie-One-On Tuesday when I blog about things that make me want to have a drink…or seven. Today, I raise a glass and dedicate a poem to the winning UK Wildcats._
The Bitch who Hated Basketball
In Kentucky, the people loved basketball a lot,
But the bitch down the block absolutely did NOT.
She hated that sport involving hoops and a ball,
Maybe her heart was two sizes too small.
Or perhaps, she just didn’t quite understand,
What anyone got out of being a fan.
To hoot, holler, and cry…What good did it do?
Doesn’t everyone get tired of wearing nothing but blue?
She hated the traffic, the crowds, and the noise,
And how even grandmothers turned into frat boys.
She hated the chants.
She hated the rants.
She hated that brow fans glued to their heads.
And, how they took to the street to burn sofas and beds.
March Madness made her mad indeed.
She didn’t care that Kentucky was the number one seed.
Her husband insisted they view the final game.
She grimaced and groaned, “This is bound to be lame.”
Then, “The Undeniables” took to the floor,
There were threes, and slams, and blocked shots galore.
And the bitch felt something she’d not felt before.
As, she watched the Cats dominate play after play,
The bitch’s heart grew three sizes that day.
When the final buzzer rang, something happened inside.
The bitch filled up with Kentucky basketball pride.
As they cut down the net, she couldn’t see how,
She’d ever hated the Wildcats and the magic unibrow.
